Challenge

This National Park experienced frequent and prolonged power outages owing to its remoteness and extreme environmental conditions. The client wanted to understand the cost and feasibility of installing a microgrid to support its operations and provide shelter-in-place for visitors.

Solution

HRE developed three microgrid configurations powered by different combination of energy sources that could be installed in one of the most challenging climates on earth and withstand 72 hour of outages.

Results

HRE’s feasibility study reassured the client’s decision in installing a microgrid to improve energy resiliency and support national park operations.
